NEW YORK/TORONTO, Ontario - The National Hockey League announced that NHL Radio’s “NHL Live!“ returns to the NHL Network at noon on Monday.
The program’s hosts include former ECHL play-by-play announcer and current NHL Network producer/host Rob Simpson.
Simpson, who has more than 20 years of radio and television broadcasting experience including the 2002 ECHL All-Star Game, was the “Voice of the Idaho Steelheads” from the team’s inaugural season in 1997-98 to 2000-01 and was the “Voice of the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies” from the team’s inaugural season in 2001-02 to 2002-03.
He worked three seasons for the Boston Bruins hosting the team’s weekly television show and serving as rink-side reporter during game telecasts. The native of Detroit spent four years as producer and host of “Maple Leaf America,” a weekly program that Simpson created for Leafs TV about Leafs players, legends and fans across the United States.
Simpson is the author of two books, “Black and Gold,” a book of photography and narrative on the Bruins, and “Between The Lines: Not-So-Tall Tales from Ray “Scampy” Scapinello’s Four Decades in the NHL” which he coauthored with Scapinello.
He joined Boston Bruins All-Star Zdeno Chara on a climb up Mount Kilimanjaro in the summer of 2008, chronicling the 37-mile trek up Africa’s highest mountain in a series of articles on BostonBruins.com and in the July 13 edition of the Boston Herald .
In addition to Simpson, the show is hosted on a rotating basis by Don La Greca, Deb Placey and Sam Rosen with analysts E.J. Hradek, Billy Jaffe, Bill Clement, Jim Dowd and Jim Micheletti. Weekly contributors to the show include Mike Milbury, Bob McKenzie, Kevin Allen, Jay Feaster and Eddie Olczyk.
“NHL Live!” originates from the NHL/Sirius XM studio inside the NHL Powered by Reebok retail location in the heart of New York City and is heard from 12-2 p.m. Monday-Friday on NHL Home Ice (XM 204 and Sirius 208), on NHL.com and on the Pittsburgh Penguins HD Radio Network.
