ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Ticker) -- Zenon Konopka scored twice in
the latter stages of the game to propel the Idaho Steelheads to
the next round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs with a 3-2 triumph over
the Alaska Aces. Konopka tied the contest at 2-2 on a
power-play goal with 94 seconds left in the second period and
collected the game-winner, his sixth marker in nine playoff
games, with 80 seconds remaining in the third. Dan Ellis stopped
all 14 shots he faced in the third period and 24 overall for
Idaho, which captured the Pacific Division Finals in four games.
Jan Kopecky opened the scoring 3:11 after the initial faceoff
for the Steelheads, who have won six of their last seven games.
Mark Smith tallied 1:47 into the second period and Keith
McCambridge gave Alaska a 2-1 lead 10:57 later. Dan Murphy
turned away 25 shots for the Aces, who were held to just one
goal on 15 power-play chances in the series.
