ECHL announces fines, suspension

PRINCETON, N.J. – The ECHL on Thursday announced the following fines and suspension.

Alaska’s Olson fined, suspended

Alaska’s Benn Olson has been suspended for three games and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #461, Alaska at Idaho, on Feb. 8.

Olson was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for kneeing under Rule #50.5 at 2:33 of the second period. He is fined and suspended under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline.

Olson will miss Alaska’s games at Idaho on Feb. 10 and Feb. 11 and its game against Bakersfield on Feb. 17.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.

Utah’s Turek fined

Utah’s Ryan Turek has been fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #463, Bakersfield at Utah, on Feb. 8.

Turek was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for boarding under Rule #41.5 at 14:46 of the third period. He is fined under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.
