Forney named Sher-Wood Hockey Player of the Week
Forney scored four goals, added three assists and was a +5 as the Eagles won two games against San Francisco.
The 24-year-old opened the week with three points (1g-2a) in a 6-1 win against the Bulls on Friday and then tallied a hat trick and added an assist in Colorado’s 7-2 win on Saturday.
Forney leads the ECHL with nine goals, is tied for ninth with 12 points and his four power-play goals are tied for the league lead.
A native of Thief River Falls, Minn., Forney has 155 points (61g-94a) in 191 career ECHL games with Colorado and Gwinnett.
Selected in the third round (80th overall) by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Forney also has four points (1g-3a) in 26 career American Hockey League games with Chicago, St. John’s and Texas.
On behalf of Michael Forney, a case of pucks will be donated to a Colorado youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 27,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
