Gwinnett's Zapolski named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week
PRINCETON, N.J. – Ryan Zapolski of the Gwinnett Gladiators is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for March 5-11.
The 25-year-old was 2-0-0 with one shutout, a 0.50 goals-against average and a save percentage of .985 in two appearances for the Gladiators last week.
Zapolski opened the week with 34 saves in a 3-1 win at Greenville on Tuesday and followed that up with 30 saves a 2-0 win against Cincinnati on Saturday for his second shutout of the season.
A native of Erie, Pa., Zapolski has appeared in 10 games with Gwinnett this season posting a 6-1-1 record with two shutouts, a 1.97 goals-against average and a save percentage of .932. Overall this season, he has seen action in 13 games with Gwinnett, Kalamazoo and Toledo going 8-2-1 with a 1.98 goals-against average and a save percentage of .933.
Prior to turning pro, Zapolski played four seasons at Mercyhurst College where he appeared in 109 games and went 48-43-11 with eight shutouts, a 2.77 goals-against average and a save percentage of .920.
