Hirschfeld completed his senior season at Miami University (Ohio) last season earning 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in 41 games and served as team captain. In 134 total contests with the Redhawks, the Sylvania, Ohio, native recorded 70 points (35 goals, 35 assists) and helped capture a CCHA championship in 2011.
