MacKenzie skated in 46 games with the ECHL’s Alaska Aces last season earning 20 points (three goals, 17 assists), held a plus-minus rating of +18 and added eight points (five goals, three assists) in 18 playoff matchups to help the Aces capture the 2014 Kelly Cup Championship. The New Canaan, Connecticut, native began the season with the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Abbotsford Heat where he scored one goal and four assists for five points in 17 games.
Entering his third professional season, MacKenzie carries 71 career ECHL contests and 34 points (eight goals, 26 assists) with Alaska and the Utah Grizzlies and racked up 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) in 44 AHL games, all with Abbotsford. During his rookie campaign with the Heat, MacKenzie received direction from former Stingrays player and coach Cail MacLean. Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-2, 195-pound defenseman attended the University of Vermont for four seasons where he was a teammate of current Stingrays forward Jack Downing.
