Jakaitis finished the 2013-14 season third in the ECHL with 24 wins and .924 save percentage, fifth with a 2.16 goals-against average and tied for sixth with three shutouts. Overall, the Rochester, Minnesota, native held a 24-12-1-2 record in 40 games and was named the 2013-14 ECHL Goaltender of the Year, an All-ECHL First Team selection, the 2013-14 Jerry Zucker Community Service Award winner and ECHL Goaltender of the Month in October and December, setting a new league record with four monthly awards in his career. Jakaitis allowed two goals or less in 28 of his 40 appearances during the campaign and the ECHL Goaltender of the Year honor is the second of his career, first receiving the award as a member of the Gwinnett Gladiators in 2011-12. He joins Scott Stirling (2000-01, 2003-04) as the only two-time winners in the award’s history.
Entering his eighth professional season, the 5-foot-10, 165-pound netminder holds a career ECHL record of 84-53-22 in 166 appearances with a 2.45 goals-against average and .921 save percentage with the Stingrays, Gladiators, Charlotte Checkers and Columbia Inferno.
