Utah's Engelage Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J.- Andrew Engelage of the Utah Grizzlies is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Jan. 31-Feb. 6. He also won the award for the week of Jan. 3-9.  

The 22 year old was 2-1-1 with one shutout, a 1.99 goals-against average and a .940 save percentage in four appearances last week as the Grizzlies opened up a five-point lead over Idaho for first-place in the Mountain Division.

Engelage opened the week with 33 saves in a 4-3 overtime loss to Ontario on Monday and then recorded his second shutout of the season on Wednesday with 40 saves in a 5-0 win against Las Vegas. He made 27 saves in a 2-1 win at Stockton on Friday and ended the week with 26 saves in a 3-2 loss against the Thunder on Saturday.

The Oshawa, Ontario native is second in the ECHL with a .925 save percentage, third with a 2.44 goals-against average and tied for third with 17 wins.

As a rookie last season, Engelage appeared in 11 games with Reading posting a 7-3-0 record with a 3.89 goals-against average and a save percentage of .887. He also saw action in 10 American Hockey League games with Toronto.

Prior to turning pro he played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with Windsor, and was part of the Spitfires Memorial Cup championship team in 2008-09.

Runners Up: Mike Zacharias, Ontario (1-0-1, 2.40 GAA, .925 save pct.) and Ben Scrivens, Reading (2-0-0, 2.50 GAA, .948 save pct.).

Also Nominated: Josh Tordjman (Bakersfield), Ryan Nie (Kalamazoo), Andrew Loewen (South Carolina), Jimmy Spratt (Toledo), David Shantz (Victoria) and Peter Delmas (Wheeling).
