Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen of the Cincinnati Cyclones has been selected as the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for November.
Luukkonen went 6-2-1 with two shutouts, a 1.88 goals-against average and a save percentage of .925 in nine appearances during the month.
The 20-year-old allowed two goals or less in six appearances and made at least 23 saves four times. He was named ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending Nov. 17 after posting shutouts in both of his appearances that week.
Under a National Hockey League contract with the Buffalo Sabres, Luukkonen ranks third in the ECHL with a 1.88 goals-against average and is sixth with a .925 save percentage.
Last season, Luukkonen saw action in 53 games with Sudbury of the Ontario Hockey League, where he was named both the OHL Goaltender of the Year and Most Valuable Player after going 38-11-2 with six shutouts, a 2.50 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage. He also helped Finland claim the gold medal at the 2019 World Junior Championship, posting a 1.80 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage in six games.
