Skinner makes NHL debut

Former Wichita Thunder goaltender Stuart Skinner became the 685th former ECHL player to reach the National Hockey League when he debuted with the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday against Ottawa.

Skinner is the seventh former ECHL player to make his NHL debut during the 2020-21 season. He appeared in 41 games with Wichita during the 2018-19 season, going 15-14-7 with four shutouts, a 3.16 goals-against average and a save percentage of .903. Last season, in three games for the Thunder, he was 2-1-0 with a 3.62 goals-against average and a save percentage of .894.

A third-round selection (78th overall) of the Oilers in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft,  Skinner has seen action in 47 career American Hockey League games with Bakersfield where he is 20-19-6 with one shutout, a 3.26 goals-against average and a save percentage of .891.
