GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits announced that the club has signed forwards Jake Elmer and Carter Souch to contracts ahead of the 2022-23 season. Elmer signs with the Swamp Rabbits after a two-season stint with the Jacksonville Icemen. The Calgary, Alberta native spent the last three seasons under contract with the New York Rangers, Jacksonville's National Hockey League affiliate. The 23-year-old postesd 32 points (18g-14a) in 50 games with the Icemen in 2021-22, while also appearing in 10 games for the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. In his first season with the Icemen, Elmer recorded 12 points (2g-10a) during the 2020-21 season. Elmer spent the 2019-20 season with the Maine Mainers, posting 23 points (12g-11a) in his first pro season. That same season he added an additional two games at the AHL level to the five he accumulated the previous season with the Wolf Pack.Prior to turning pro, Elmer capped off his junior career with 81 points (39g-42a) in 68 games for the Western Hockey League's Lethbridge Hurricanes. In 204 WHL games with Lethbridge, Kootenay and Regina, he tallied 134 points (64g-70a).
Souch enters the professional ranks on the back of a WHL championship with the Edmonton Oil Kings last season. In his final junior campaign the Edmonton, Alberta native posted 71 points (22g-49a) in 68 games for his hometown club. The 20-year-old joined the Oil Kings for the 2017-18 season after being drafted by the team 75th overall in the WHL Bantam Draft the year prior. In his WHL career, the Souch appeared in 260 games for Edmonton and tallied 191 points (60g-131a) over that span.
