Former Orlando Solar Bears’ forward Mason Marchment of the Florida Panthers is the Bellevue University ECHL Alumnus of the Month for January.
The 26-year-old notched 14 points (7g-7a) in nine games during January, including 12 points (6g-6a) in his final four games in the month. He tied the Panthers’ team record, originally set by Olli Jokinen on March 17, 2007, with six points (2g-4a) in an 8-4 win at Columbus on Jan. 31. Marchment's six-point game is the most points ever scored by an ECHL alum in an NHL game.
A native of Uxbridge, Ontario, Marchment posted 20 points (14g-6a) in 35 regular-season games with the Solar Bears during the 2016-17 season before adding five points (1g-4a) in seven games during the 2017 Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Marchment has totaled 34 points (10g-24) in 58 career NHL games with Florida and Toronto.

The ECHL has had 527 players reach the NHL since 2002-03 when it changed its focus to become the primary developmental league for the NHL and the AHL. The ECHL had 97 players reach the NHL in its first 10 seasons and 215 in the first 15 years. There have been 463 ECHL players who have played their first game in the last 17 seasons for an average of more than 27 per year.
