The Tulsa Oilers picked up three wins in three games over the weekend to pull to within one point of Quad City for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Tulsa began the weekend with a 3-2 win over Missouri on Friday. Phil Brewer, Mathieu Gagnon and Nathan Lutz tallied for the Oilers while Jussi Olkinuora turned aside 36 Mavericks’ shots to record the win in goal. A crowd of 14,265 fans was on hand at BOK Center, the second-largest crowd in the ECHL this season, and the fifth largest in the league’s 28-year history. The Oilers began a home-and-home series with Allen on Saturday and came away with a 3-2 shootout win on home ice. Brewer and Adam Pleskach scored in regulation and Tulsa outscored the Americans 3-2 in a seven-round shootout to pick up the victory. The scene shifted to Allen on Sunday where the Oilers got off to a quick start, scoring three times in the first 21 minutes of the game on their way to a 4-3 win. Brady Ramsay scored a pair of goals while Andrew Johnston picked up two assists to lead the Tulsa offense. Olkinuoura won his third start in as many days with 26 saves. Dan DeSalvo, currently loaned to Manitoba of the American Hockey League, leads the Oilers, and is tied for third among ECHL rookies, with 51 points (16g-35a) in 55 games. Brewer has a team-leading 21 goals, which is tied for third among first-year players. Dennis Brown is tied for third among defensemen with 28 assists while his 33 points are tied for 10th among blueliners. Tulsa hits the road for three games this week, visiting Utah on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
