With a win over Tampa Bay in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Thursday, the Pittsburgh Penguins advanced to the Stanley Cup Final where they will meet the San Jose Sharks.
The match-up of Pittsburgh/San Jose was set two nights after the Wheeling Nailers, Pittsburgh's ECHL affiliate, earned a shot against the Allen Americans, San Jose's ECHL affiliate, in the 2016 Kelly Cup Finals. This is the first time in the ECHL's 28-year history that the two teams squaring off in the Finals series will see their affiliates meet in the Stanley Cup Final in the same season.
Allen hosts Game 1 and 2 of the Kelly Cup Finals on Saturday at 8:05 p.m. CT and Sunday at 4:05 p.m. CT while the Stanley Cup Final gets underway in Pittsburgh on Monday.
