Chad Costello had a goal and two assists to lead the Allen Americans to a 4-2 win over the Wheeling Nailers in Game 4 of the Kelly Cup Finals on Friday at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va. The series is tied 2-2.Gary Steffes got Allen on the board first 16:02 into the contest with his 12th goal of the postseason. It was the ninth goal of Steffes' Kelly Cup Finals career, tying him with Mark Deazeley and Greg Puhalski for the second most in ECHL Finals history.The Nailers drew even with 15.1 seconds remaining in the opening period when Dan O'Donoghue put the rebound of a Danny Fick shot past Allen goaltender goaltender Riley Gill for his third goal of the playoffs.Wheeling took a 2-1 lead at 14:17 of the second period when O'Donoghue found Cody Wydo at the top of the crease and he beat Gill with a quick wrister for his 10th goal of the playoffs. But, the Americans pulled even late in the period at 18:15. On a 2-on-0 break, Franky Palazzese stopped the initial shot by Vincent Arseneau, but Nikita Jevpalovs put home the rebound for his second postseason goal.Allen regained the lead 3:38 into third period when Costello got behind the Wheeling defense and beat Palazzesse on a breakaway for his sixth goal of the playoffs.Eric Roy scored an empty-net goal with 33.6 seconds left to set the final.The win for Gill was his ninth career win in the Kelly Cup Finals, setting a new record for most career wins by a goaltender in ECHL Finals history.Game 5 of the series is Saturday at 7:35 p.m. ET at WesBanco Arena.
