Fort Wayne, Ind. - The Fort Wayne Komets announced that forward Garrett Thompson has inked an agreement to return for his second season with the team.The Komets are the ECHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League and the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League.Thompson, 26, will be starting his third pro season after making his ECHL debut last year with Fort Wayne. The left wing skated 34 games with the Komets scoring 30 points (11g-19a) before he received a call-up to the Rampage, where he amassed 13 points (6g-7a) in 32 games. Thompson returned to Fort Wayne for the final regular season game before appearing in all 16 playoff games and tying for the team lead with 10 goals and adding two assists.The Traverse City, Mich. native made his pro debut with Binghamton in the AHL in 2013-14 appearing in seven games after completing a four-year stint in the CCHA with Ferris State University. That season, he capped his four-year collegiate career leading Ferris State with 32 points (16g-16a) in 43 games. Thompson spent the entire 2014-15 season with Binghamton scoring 14 points (6g-8a) in 65 games.
