Wichita, Kan. - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators, announced that forward Ian Lowe has re-signed for the 2016-17 season.
Lowe, 29, returns to Wichita for a fifth season and his sixth as a pro. A native of Bradwardine, Manitoba, the 5-foot-9, 175-pound forward was named the team's captain during the 2014-15 season as well as donning the 'C' last year. In 264 career games with the Thunder, Lowe has amassed 186 points (75g-111a). He sits in ninth place all-time in team history for points (186) and seventh place in games played (263). Lowe has reached 34 points or more during each season of his professional career.
Prior to turning pro, Lowe spent a four-year career at Bemidji State University where he ranks 11th on the school's all-time Division I scoring list. He collected 79 points (37g-42a) in 132 career games for the Beavers. He turned pro in 2011, playing his rookie season for the Idaho Steelheads. Lowe also received a call-up to the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League that year.
