Marcotte switches to Wichita Thunder for second pro season

Wichita, Kan. - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators, announced the team has come to terms with forward Louick Marcotte for the 2016-17 season.

Marcotte, 22, enters his second professional season after appearing in 57 games last year for the Adirondack Thunder, where he posted 29 points (16g-13a). A native of Longueuil, Quebec, the 6-foot-1, 201-pound winger was the first player ever to sign with the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League, which was a two-way AHL-ECHL agreement.

Prior to turning pro, Marcotte had a stellar junior career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with Prince Edward, Val-d'or and Gatineau. He registered 255 points (119g-136a) in 277 career games with his best season coming in 2013-14 when he was one of only five players that racked up 100 or more points (42g-58a). Marcotte was third in QMJHL postseason scoring that season, tallying 37 points (12g-25a) in 24 games en route to winning the league title.
