Nesbitt back in Gladiators' leadership role

DULUTH, Ga. - The Atlanta Gladiators announced that veteran forward Derek Nesbitt has agreed to terms with the organization for the 2016-17 season.The Gladiators are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Boston Bruins and the American Hockey League's Providence Bruins.Nesbitt, who was named as Atlanta's captain last season, will continue his captaincy in the upcoming year. Having started his professional career with the Gladiators, Nesbitt returned to the team for the 2015-16 season, bringing with him 10 years of AHL and ECHL experience. The Ontario native appeared in all 72 games last season, finishing the year first on the Gladiators with 62 points (28g-34a). Over the course of his career, the 6-foot, 195-pound forward has appeared in 372 AHL contests, racking up 225 points (104g-121a), and 283 ECHL games with 302 points (114g-188a).
