Returner Trenz, newcomer Sampair sign with Aces

Returner Trenz, newcomer Sampair sign with Aces

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Vancouver Canucks and AHL's Utica Comets, have signed defenseman Ryan Trenz and forward Charlie Sampair for the 2016-17 season.

Trenz, 24, joined the Aces after completing his college eligibility at Northern Michigan University last season. He played in 103 games for the Wildcats, scoring 16 points (4g-12a) and adding 77 penalty minutes. The native of St. Louis saw action in seven games with Alaska last season.

Sampair, 22, joins the Aces after completing his collegiate career at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, Sampair played in 102 games for Bulldogs, recording 14 points (5g-9a) with 33 penalty minutes.
