INDIANAPOLIS – The Indy Fuel, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs, announced the signing of goaltender Terry Shafer and center Anthony Beauregard. Shafer returns to Indy after finishing the 2015-16 season with the Fuel, while Beauregard is set to make his professional debut. The 25-year-old Shafer appeared in three games after signing an amateur tryout contract on March 23, posting an 0-1-1 record with a 3.84 goals against average and an .871 save percentage. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound netminder made his professional debut on March 31 in Cincinnati, making four saves in a relief appearance against the Cyclones. Shafer’s first pro start came two days later in Fort Wayne on April 2.Shafer arrived in Indy on the heels of a standout four-year collegiate career at Robert Morris University. The Rochester, N.Y. native left the winningest goaltender in program history, finishing with a 43-30-11 mark over 86 total games with the Colonials. A three-time Atlantic Hockey conference Goaltender of the Week, Shafer’s 19 victories and four shutouts in 2015-16 are both tied for the Robert Morris single-season record.Beauregard, 20, has spent each of the last three seasons with the Val-d’or Foreurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, racking up 223 points (69g-154a) in 207 career games with the club. The 5-foot-7, 159-pound center led the Foreurs – and was tied for fifth in the entire QMJHL – with 93 points (30g-63a) in 2015-16, averaging 1.39 points per game (67 games played).
