Stingrays agree to terms with Saucerman

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League, have agreed to terms with defenseman Colton Saucerman, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Ryan Warsofsky announced.

Saucerman, 24, returns to the Stingrays after joining the club late in the 2015-16 regular season and playing a key part in the club's run to the Eastern Conference Finals. The defender was signed by the Stingrays in April after a four-year NCAA career at Northeastern University. He made an immediate impact with the Stingrays, scoring a goal in his pro debut on April 2. He finished with four points (1g-3a) in four regular-season games. In the playoffs, Saucerman skated in 15 games, notching eight points (2g-6a).

Prior to joining South Carolina, Saucerman helped lead Northeastern to a Hockey East championship and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament. He was named to the Hockey East All-Tournament team and finished the season with 15 points (4g-11a) in 40 games from the blue line. The 5-foot-9, 191-pound defenseman collected 64 points (20g-44a) in 140 collegiate games.
