Allen, Texas – The two-time Kelly Cup Champion Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, announced that goaltender Riley Gill will return for a third season in Allen.
Gill, who is the ECHL all-time leader in wins in the postseason with 48, helped lead Allen to its second straight Kelly Cup title in June. Gill finished the postseason with a record of 12-5 and a .923 save percentage.
Prior to his time in Allen, Gill spent two seasons with the Reading Royals, where he helped lead Reading to a Kelly Cup Championship in 2013, along with winning the Kelly Cup Playoffs Most Valuable Player award. He is one of just five individuals in ECHL history to have won three Kelly Cup titles.
A native of Northfield, Minn., Gill is the ECHL all-time leader with 11 career wins in the Kelly Cup Finals while ranking second in postseason history among goaltenders in games played (79) and minutes played (4,489).
Gill played four years at Western Michigan University, and began his professional career with the Kalamazoo Wings in 2009. He has played in six games in the American Hockey League with Hershey, Bridgeport and Worcester.
