BRAMPTON, Ontario - The Brampton Beast announced that defenseman Jordan Henry has re-signed with the club for the 2016-17 season.
The Beast are the ECHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League and the St. John's IceCaps of the American Hockey League.
The Milo, Alberta native appeared in 47 contests with Brampton last season, recording 19 points (6g-13a) to go along with 53 penalty minutes. Henry was named the captain of the Beast in the latter half of the 2015-16 season when Brandon Marino earned a callup to the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League.
Henry is a veteran of 306 AHL games with the Rochester Americans, Abbotsford Heat, Chicago Wolves, Oklahoma City Barons, Syracuse Crunch and Charlotte Checkers between the 2007-08 and 2014-15 seasons.
The 30-year-old blueliner is a product of the Western Hockey League and played his junior hockey with the Moose Jaw Warriors and Red Deer Rebels between 2003-04 and 2006-07. In 270 WHL games, Henry tallied 83 points (12g-61a) with 536 penalty minutes. A former captain of the ECHL's Florida Everblades, Henry has recorded 86 points (25g-61a) in 138 career ECHL contests.
