Weselowski returns to Rush

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Rush, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes, announced that the longest-tenured player in team history, defenseman Riley Weselowski, has returned to the Rush and is signed for the 2016-17 season.

Weselowski comes back to the Rush after suiting up with the Cincinnati Cyclones last season. The 31-year-old skated in 69 of 72 regular-season games with Cincinnati and registered 14 points (2g-12a) and a +7 rating. Additionally, the veteran defenseman played in all seven of the Cyclones' playoff games against Fort Wayne, adding another assist in his seventh consecutive postseason as a professional.

A native of Pilot Mound, Manitoba, Weselowski, returns to the Rush for his ninth professional season. Of his nine seasons pro, all but two have been played with the Rush. Weselowski holds 11 Rush team records, including games played (318), +/- (+75 shared with Jesse Schultz), and is the all-time leading scorer in team history among defensemen in all three major categories with 25 goals, 109 assists, and 135 points to his credit. The veteran of 387 games in the pro ranks first came to the Rush in the 2009-10 season, when he was part of the 2010 Ray Miron Presidents’ Cup Championship team that defeated the Allen Americans.

Prior to turning pro, Weselowski skated with the NCAA’s Bemidji State Beavers and notched 39 points (8g-31a) in 124 games across four seasons.
