ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, have announced that the club has agreed to terms with forward Austin Block for the 2016-17 season.

Block was acquired by Orlando from the Manchester Monarchs on Feb. 12. In 23 games with the Solar Bears, Block posted seven points (2g-5a) and 10 penalty minutes and finished the season with 19 points (5g-14a) and 37 penalty minutes in 63 games.

The 26-year-old began his professional career in 2013-14 with Finnish clubs HIFK Helsinki and Kerava HCK, before finishing the season in Sweden with Karlskrona HK. He then split the 2014-15 campaign with Slovakia's HC Banska Bystrica and the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors. In 130 career pro games, Block has posted 52 points (16g-36a) and 61 penalty minutes.

Prior to turning pro, the native of Denver, Colo. played collegiate hockey at the University of New Hampshire, where he posted 50 points (25g-25a) and 94 penalty minutes in 136 games for the Wildcats. Block also played two seasons of junior hockey with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the North American Hockey League, where he racked up 100 points (42g-58a) and 134 penalty minutes in 110 games and led the league in points with 76 in the 2008-09 campaign while being named the league's top forward.
