Docken, Hill add depth to Walleye blue line

Toledo, Ohio - Defensemen Derek Docken and Jordan Hill have agreed to terms with the Toledo Walleye for the 2016-17 season.

The Walleye are the ECHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League and the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.

Docken returns for a second season with the Walleye after posting five assists and a +16 in 48 games as a rookie last season. The native of Northfield, Minn. spent four years at the University of Alaska-Anchorage where he skated in 139 games with 24 points (6g-18a). In both his junior and senior seasons, the 26-year-old was named Alaska-Anchorage Defensive Player of the Year.

Hill joins the Walleye following last season when he was team captain and picked up 26 points (4g-22a) over 66 games with the Norfolk Admirals. The 27-year-old also appeared in eight AHL contests with Manitoba. Hill has spent most of his professional career in the AHL, skating in 205 games for Manchester, Bridgeport, St. John's and Manitoba with 33 points (8g-25a) and 197 penalty minutes.

Hill set a career-best with 22 assists and 26 points last year with the Admirals. Prior to turning professional, Hill spent parts of three seasons with the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League, including the 2009-10 season when he was team captain before being traded to Saginaw to finish that season. In 201 contests in the OHL he picked up 65 points (16g-49a) and 171 penalty minutes.
