WINDSOR, Colo. – The Colorado Eagles, ECHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, announced that they have signed forward Luke Salazar to a contract for the 2016-17 season.
A native of Thornton, Colo., Salazar has spent the past four seasons playing in Europe, after enjoying a four-year career at the University of Denver.
Salazar amassed 176 points (57g-119a) in 211 games overseas, including stops in Norway, Sweden, Austria and most recently with the Manchester Storm of the EIHL, where he posted 62 points (23g-39a) in 61 games last season.
A 2007 graduate of Legacy High School in Broomfield, Salazar generated 88 points (45g-43a) in 140 games with the Pioneers, including a career-high 30 points (12g-18a) in 42 games during his senior season. He was also named to the WCHA All-Academic Team on three different occasions.
In just two seasons at the junior level, Salazar netted 110 points (51g-59a) in 119 games with the Wichita Falls Wildcats. In his final season in the NAHL, Salazar led the league with 41 goals in 58 games.
