NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals, have agreed to terms with defenseman Wade Epp, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Ryan Warsofsky announced.
Epp re-signs with the Stingrays for his third season with the club. The Chilliwack, British Columbia native played big minutes in 2015-16 for South Carolina, and finished the season with 18 points (6g-12a) in 51 contests. The 27-year-old defenseman collected a +7 rating and finished with 137 penalty minutes. He also appeared in 18 playoff games, notching six points (1g-5a). As a rookie in 2014-15, Epp collected 20 assists and 88 penalty minutes in 61 games. He also appeared in all 27 playoff games, notching four assists, in the team's run to the 2015 Kelly Cup Finals.
Prior to turning pro, Epp was a four-year standout at Northern Michigan University, skating in 141 games with 34 points (9g-25a). He attended Washington Capitals Prospect Development Camp in 2011 and 2014, Edmonton Oilers Prospect Camp in 2012, and Washington's Training Camp in 2014.
