Fuel add pair of wingers

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indy Fuel, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs, announced that forwards Alex Wideman and Raphaël Corriveau have agreed to terms on ECHL contracts for the 2016-17 season.

Wideman recorded 39 points (15g-24a) in 58 ECHL games last season with Evansville. Playing under an AHL contract in 2015-16 with the Binghamton Senators, the 24-year-old winger also appeared in seven contests with Binghamton, recording two penalty minutes. Wideman made his professional debut at the end of the 2014-15 season, when he suited up in four games for the Senators after completing his collegiate career at Miami University (Ohio).

In four years with the RedHawks, Wideman tallied 56 points (24g-32a) in 140 career NCAA games, helping his team to a CCHA regular-season championship in 2013 and an NCHC title in 2015. During his first two seasons at Miami, the St. Louis native played alongside his brother Chris Wideman, who is currently with the Ottawa Senators. Prior to college, Wideman spent two seasons in Indianapolis as a member of the USHL’s Indiana Ice.

Corriveau spent the 2015-16 season in France with Morzine-Avoriaz-Les Gets, where he recorded eight points (5g-3a) and 51 penalty minutes in 23 regular-season games. The 22-year-old right wing put up 11 points (8g-3a) in 12 games of postseason play for the Pingouins, and two more tallies over six games in the French League Cup.

A native of Lévis, Quebec, Corriveau played four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, finishing his junior career with 113 points (60g-53a) and 332 penalty minutes in 253 total games with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and Québec Ramparts. Serving as an alternate captain for the Titan in 2014-15, Corriveau led the team in goals with 19 and finished third in penalty minutes with 108.
