Glens Falls, N.Y. – The Adirondack Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, announced that they have signed forward Peter MacArthur to a contract for the 2016-17 season.
MacArthur, 31, returns to the Thunder after he joined the team in December 2015. The Clifton Park, N.Y. native collected 36 points (8g-28a) in 46 regular-season games, in addition to 10 points (3g-7a) in 12 postseason contests. MacArthur was named as the second captain in team history on March 26. He was honored by the ECHL as the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for the week of March 14-20, where he collected eight points (1g-7a) in a three-game series against the Orlando Solar Bears.
The veteran forward signed with the Thunder after he began the season in Austria with Graz EC. MacArthur spent the past three seasons in Europe as he skated with teams in Germany and Austria. MacArthur’s time overseas included a tenure with Team USA and he helped lead his country to gold at the 2013 Deutschland Cup with the game-winning goal against Germany in the final game. Prior to his time overseas, MacArthur collected 86 points (29g-57a) in 190 AHL games with Bridgeport, Rockford, San Antonio, Peoria and Lake Erie, in addition to 52 points (18g-34a) in 41 ECHL games with Fresno and Las Vegas.
