WHEELING, W.Va - The Wheeling Nailers, ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, announced the team has re-signed forward Andrew Ammon to an ECHL contract.
Ammon started last season as a member of the Reading Royals for six games, before the Nailers signed him to a new contract in the middle of February. The 26-year-old notched five points in nine regular-season games. with Wheeling and added four points in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Last year was Ammon's second season of professional hockey, as he spent the majority of the 2014-15 campaign with the South Carolina Stingrays, who similar to Wheeling, won the Eastern Conference championship. Ammon accumulated 11 points (7g-4a) in 38 contests, while chipping in with one goal in four games with the AHL's Providence Bruins. Prior to turning pro, the forward played four seasons of college hockey at Princeton University. Ammon amassed 61 points (33g-28a) in 107 games with the Tigers.
