Schulze re-signs with Nailers for first full season

WHEELING, W.Va - The Wheeling Nailers, ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, are announced the team has signed defenseman Kevin Schulze to a contract for the 2016-17 season.

Schulze, 23, joined the Nailers at the conclusion of the 2015-16 campaign, appearing in three regular-season games and eight playoff contests.

Prior to making the jump to the professional game, Schulze attended the University of Wisconsin for four years. In 148 career games with the Badgers, he tallied 46 points (10g-36a). His most productive season from a points standpoint was his sophomore year of 2013-14, when he accumulated 16. That accomplishment was sandwiched around a pair of four-goal seasons as a freshman and a junior, which marked his career high in that category. Schulze also played one year of junior hockey in the USHL, primarily as a member of the Omaha Lancers.
