Boise, Idaho – Idaho Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced that the team has agreed to terms with forwards Will Merchant and forward David Glen for the 2016-17 season.
The Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars of the National Hokey League and the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.
Merchant, 22, played 136 games over four seasons at the University of Maine, scoring 39 points (22g-17a). The Eagan, Minn. native had a career-best offensive season in his senior year setting career-highs with a team-leading 13 goals to go along with nine assists. Merchant more than doubled his previous career high in points, finishing the 2015-16 season with 22 points in 36 games, ranking second on the team.
Glen, 25, played four seasons at Penn State and was also alternate captain during his junior season. In 122 college games, the native of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta tallied 69 points (29g-40a). His 69 points rank fourth in Penn State’s four-year history as a Division I program. He finished with a career-high in assists last season, his 17 ranking second on the team.
