Tesink inks deal with Wichita

Wichita, Kan. - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators, announced that the team has come to terms with forward Ryan Tesink for the 2016-17 season.

Tesink joins the Thunder after splitting last season between the Alaska Aces and Quad City Mallards. The 23-year-old was a sixth-round selection (162nd overall) of the St. Louis Blues in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He was assigned to the Mallards by the AHL's Chicago Wolves at the beginning of the season, appearing in 37 games and recording 16 points (6g-10a). Tesink was reassigned to Alaska in February and recorded 12 points (3g-9a) in 28 games to close out the 2015-16 campaign.

The third-year pro from Saint John, New Brunswick spent four years with the QMJHL's Saint John Sea Dogs and Blainville-Boisbriand Armada before turning pro. He helped the Sea Dogs to back-to-back QMJHL President's Cup titles in 2011 and 2012, recording 152 points (51g-101a) in 183 career games. Tesink served as an alternate captain for both Saint John (2012-13) and Blainville-Boisbriand (2013-14).
