WINDSOR, Colo. – The Colorado Eagles, ECHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, announced that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Matt Register for the 2016-17 season.
Register is coming off a season in which he captured an ECHL championship with the Allen Americans, after starting the year with the Atlanta Gladiators. Register was named the ECHL Defenseman of the Year during the 2013-14 season with the Ontario Reign and also earned a spot on the All-ECHL First Team in both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 campaigns.
The Calgary, Alberta native has posted 144 points in 197 ECHL games, after beginning his professional career in the Central Hockey League with the Allen Americans, Arizona Sundogs and Tulsa Oilers.
Register spent four seasons at the junior level with the Bonnyville Pontiacs of the AJHL, notching 94 points in 166 games. He also was named the AJHL Defenseman of the Year in 2010, after leading the league’s defensemen in scoring with 61 points in 58 games while also earning a spot on the AJHL All-Star Team.
