ESTERO, Fla. – Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Brad Ralph announced Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Corey Syvret for the 2016-17 season.
The Everblades are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes and the American Hockey League's Charlotte Checkers.
Syvret returns for his second season with the Everblades after posting 28 points (7g-21a) and a +5 rating in 70 games with the club last season. Prior to joining Florida, the 27-year-old totaled 52 points (9g-43a) in 105 appearances during his three seasons with the ECHL’s Alaska Aces from 2012-15.
Syvret has logged an assist in 18 American Hockey League games in his career split between the Rochester Americans, Portland Pirates and Toronto Marlies. In addition, he has appeared in a total of 192 ECHL contests with Alaska, Trenton and Kalamazoo.
The Millgrove, Ontario native accumulated 93 career points in five seasons played in the Ontario Hockey League (2005-10) with the London Knights and Guelph Storm. Syvret was selected by the Florida Panthers in the sixth round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
