Veilleux inks deal with Wichita

Wichita, Kan. - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators, announced the signing of forward Tommy Veilleux for the 2016-17 season.

Veilleux will begin his pro career after playing the last four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Victoriaville Tigres and Gatineau Olympiques. In 198 career games in the QMJHL, the 21-year-old racked up 410 penalty minutes to go along with 78 points (35g-43a). His best season came in 2012-13 as a member of Victoriaville when he posted 28 points (11g-17a) and 129 penalty minutes in 66 games.

A native of St-Odilon, Quebec, Veilleux was a sixth-round selection (171st overall) of the Nashville Predators in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Last season, he started with Gatineau before finishing the year with the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League's Terrebonne Cobras where he had 64 points (25g-39a) and 116 penalty minutes.
