Beast's offense leads way to four straight wins

With three wins last week to extend their current winning streak to four games, the Brampton Beast improved their overall record to 12-7-3 for 27 points. The Beast, who have missed the playoffs in each of their first two ECHL seasons, stand in fourth place of the North Division, just five points behind division-leading Manchester.

The Beast began last week with a 6-3 win over Indy on Wednesday. Trailing 3-1 midway through the first period, Brampton’s offense rose to the task to score the final five goals of the game. Six different Beast players tallied goals in the win with Luke Pither leading the way with three points (1g-2a) while David Vallorani (1g-1a) and Reggie Traccitto (2a) had multi-point efforts as well. Zachary Fucale stopped 32 shots to record the win in goal.

Brampton opened a weekend series against Wheeling with a 4-2 victory on Friday. Chris Auger tallied a pair of goals and Pither and Tim Billingsley each chipped in with two assists. Fucale turned aside 34 of the 36 shots he faced and the Beast penalty-kill unit turned in a perfect 6-for-6 night to key the victory.

The weekend ended for the Beast with another 4-2 win over the Nailers on Sunday. After falling behind 2-0 eight minutes into the contest, Brampton began its rally on goals from Vallorani and David Pacan in the final five minutes of the opening period. Pither scored the eventual game-winner 12:25 into second period while Vallorani’s second goal of the afternoon provided some insurance. Fucale earned his third win of the week with 36 saves and improved to 9-3-0 on the season.

Brampton ranks third in the ECHL with 3.86 goals per game and has four players with 21 or more points through the first 24 games of the season. Vallorani has 15 goals to rank second in the league and his 29 points are tied for fourth. Pacan has 14 tallies which is tied for third in the league and he is tied for 10th with 26 points, while Brandon Marino with 22 points (6g-16a) and Pither with 21 points (5g-16a) round out the top four on the Beast scoring list.

The Beast take on Adirondack three times this week, hosting the Thunder on Thursday and Friday before traveling to Glens Falls on Saturday. It will be chance for Brampton to make a move in the division standings as Adirondack enters the week in second place of the North Division with 31 points, four ahead of Brampton.
