High-scoring Monarchs move into tie for division lead

Picking up two wins in three games last week, the Manchester Monarchs have moved into a tie with Adirondack for first place in the North Division with an overall record of 13-7-2 for 28 points.

The Monarchs opened last week with a 4-2 loss at Adirondack on Tuesday before returning home for a pair of games against Kalamazoo over the weekend. Saturday saw Manchester come away with a 4-2 win over the K-Wings. Derek Arnold led the way with a pair of goals while Daniel Ciampini and Teddy Doherty each added two assists. Sam Brittain stopped 17 shots to record the win in goal.

Manchester wrapped up the weekend with a 6-3 victory on Sunday. Rihards Bukarts recorded his first professional hat trick with Joe Diamond (2g-1a) and Daniel Doremus (3a) also tallying three points in the win. Ciampini had his second straight two-assist game while Jonah Imoo picked up his first pro win with 24 saves.

The Monarchs have scored 80 goals on the season, tied for the second most in the league. Diamond leads the club with 22 points (11g-11a) and is tied for 13th in the ECHL in points. Quentin Shore is tied for second among rookies with eight goals and is fifth among first-year players with 16 points while fellow rookie Cory Ward is tied for sixth among first-year players with 15 points (6g-9a).

Justin Agosta and David Kolomatis have added an offensive punch from the blue line. Agosta is tied for fourth among defensemen with five goals and is tied for fifth with 16 points while Kolomatis is seventh with 15 points (3g-12a).

Brittain has nine wins, which is tied for second in the league, and he ranks 12th with a 2.47 goals-against average.

The Monarchs continue their season-long six-game home stand this week, hosting Norfolk on Wednesday and Friday.
