Eagles extend winning streak to 15 games

The Colorado Eagles extended their winning streak to 15 games with a three-game sweep of Utah last week. Colorado’s streak is tied for the third-longest winning streak in ECHL history with the Victoria Salmon Kings, who won 15 consecutive games from Dec. 6, 2008 through Jan. 10, 2009.

Next on the Eagles’ radar is the Cincinnati Cyclones, who posted a 17-game winning streak from Jan. 13-Feb. 29, 2008. The ECHL record for longest winning streak is 23 games, set by the South Carolina Stingrays from Feb. 7-March 27, 2015.

The Eagles began their winning streak with 3-2 win over Tulsa on Jan. 25. Colorado has scored at least four goals in 13 of its 15 wins, including in each of their last nine games. During the course of the streak, the Eagles have outscored their opponents 76-32.

Matt Garbowsky, who was the Most Valuable Player of the 2017 ECHL All-Star Classic, has led Colorado during the winning streak, as he has tallied at least one point in each of the 15 games. Garbowsky has notched 27 points (9g-18a) during his 15-game point streak, which is tied for the longest streak in the ECHL this season.

Clarke Saunders has been in goal for 10 of the Eagles’ 15 straight wins, while Lukas Hafner has notched three wins and Kent Simpson has two victories over that span.

The Eagles look to extend their winning streak this week as they host South Carolina on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
