ECHL announces fine, suspension

ECHL announces fine, suspension

The ECHL on Tuesday that Allen’s Derek Mathers has been suspended for three games and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #920, Tulsa at Allen, on April 1.

Mathers was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for boarding under Rule #41.5 at 15:55 of the second period. He is fined and suspended under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline.

Mathers will miss Allen’s games vs. Wichita (April 5) at Tulsa (April 7) and at Wichita (April 9).

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.
