Hamonic added to Wichita blue line

Wichita, Kan. - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers and AHL's Bakersfield Condors, announced the signing of defenseman Justin Hamonic.

Hamonic, 23, spent the majority of last year with the Colorado Eagles, notching two assists in 38 games. He also saw action in three games with the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage.

A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Hamonic played in four games for the Alaska Aces after his 20-year old Western Hockey League season concluded in 2014-15. In 2015-16, he signed a deal with the AHL's San Antonio Rampage and appeared in 50 ECHL games with the Fort Wayne Komets, where he finished with eight points (1g-7a).

Prior to turning pro, Hamonic played four years with the WHL's Tri-City Americans. He served as the captain during his final year and led the team with 95 penalty minutes. Hamonic had a career-high 18 assists, and was voted the team's Most Valuable Player and Defenseman of the Year.
