Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, announced that the team has signed Olivier Archambault to a contract for the 2017-18 season.
A fourth-round selection (108th overall) of the Montreal Canadiens in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Archambault began his pro career in 2013 with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League, where he played in ten games before returning to juniors.
During his time in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, he played with three different clubs. He was drafted by Val d’ Or Foreurs in 2009-10, first overall, in the QMJHL entry draft. He scored 27 points (12g-15a) in his first season before moving on to Drummondville, where he had 66 points in 64 games in 2012-13.
Additionally, he played in 30 games with the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League in 2014-15 and 2015-16. He’s played with three different ECHL teams - Alaska in 2014-15, where he recorded 38 points (20g-18a) in 38 games and represented the Aces at the 2015 ECHL All-Star Classic; Quad City in 2015-16, where he led the Mallards with 52 points in 50 games; and last season in South Carolina where he tallied 24 points in 35 games for the Stingrays, and was tied for third on the team with 17 points during the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
