The Walleye are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Detroit Red Wings and the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins.

The 25-year-old completed an amazing first professional season that saw him set a new Walleye single season record with a +40 rating. In 70 appearances for the Walleye, Denis scored 55 points (15g-40a) and had 29 penalty minutes. The Burnaby, British Columbia native added another five points (2g-3a) in nine playoff contests.

He was named ECHL Player of the Week for the week of February 6-12 when he posted seven points (4g-3a) with a three-goal game on Feb. 11 vs. Brampton.

Denis appeared in 141 games with 60 points (15g-45a), 38 penalty minutes and a +9 rating at Ferris State University and helped the Bulldogs to a WCHA Playoff championship in 2016 and a win over St. Cloud State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. An alternate captain for Ferris State in each of his last two years, Denis posted a career best seven goals in 2015-16.
