MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Rich Seeley announced that Matt Leitner has re-signed with the team for the 2017-18 season.
The Monarchs are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Los Angeles Kings and the American Hockey League's Ontario Reign.
Leitner, 26, returns to Manchester after posting 53 points (14g-39a) in 51 games last season. Leitner added 22 points (8g-14a) during the Monarchs' run to the Eastern Conference Finals in last season’s Kelly Cup Playoffs.
In his career, the Los Alamitos, Calif. native has played 102 ECHL games, recording 102 points (26-76a). Leitner has also played 33 career AHL games for the Reign, Milwaukee Admirals and Springfield Thunderbirds, where he has recorded nine assists.
Leitner played collegiately at Minnesota State University-Mankato where he scored 162 points (49g-113a) over the course of four seasons. During his senior campaign, Leitner was named to the First All-American Team (West).
