WHEELING, W.Va. - The Wheeling Nailers, ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, announced the team has signed forward Cameron Brown to a contract for the 2017-18 season.

Brown, 24, got his first taste of professional hockey at the end of the 2016-17 season, when he joined the Adirondack Thunder for their run to the North Division championship, as well as the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. In nine regular-season games, Brown tallied seven points (2g-5a), highlighted by a three-point night on April 7 at Elmira. He went on to see action in four playoff games during the first round against Manchester, chalking up three assists.

Prior to turning pro, the Natick, Mass. native attended the University of Maine, where he majored in Business Management, while playing four years of college hockey for the Black Bears. During his career in Orono, Brown appeared in 146 games, amassing 106 points (23g-83a). His most productive season was his senior campaign, when he finished third in Hockey East with 35 assists. Brown also played two seasons of junior hockey in the United States Hockey League with the Sioux City Musketeers and Youngstown Phantoms.
