Mingo re-signs with Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kalamazoo Wings, ECHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, have re-signed versatile forward Dajon Mingo to a contract for the 2017-18 season.

Mingo, 27, spent the entire 2016-17 season with Kalamazoo, appearing in 67 games. He patrolled the back end as a defenseman during the first portion of the campaign, but made a transition to forward as the season progressed. The native of Canton, Mich. produced 20 points (5g-15a) during the regular season. Mingo was unavailable for the playoffs after suffering a season-ending leg injury on April 1 against the Florida Everblades.

A third-year pro, Mingo made his debut in 2015 with the Toledo Walleye, and in 96 career ECHL games, he has notched 29 points (8g-21a).

Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mingo appeared in three-and-a-half seasons with the Bowling Green State University Falcons. While in the collegiate ranks, he scored 44 points (12g-32a) in 107 career games.

Before attending BGSU, he spent the 2009-10 season with Kenai River and Wenatchee of the North American Hockey League before capping off his junior career with the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League. Throughout his two-year junior run, he skated in 106 games, amassing 89 points (45g-44a).
