Royals agree to terms with defenseman Segalla

Reading, Pa. – The Reading Royals, ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, announced that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Ryan Segalla.

Segalla will be entering his second season of professional play. In his rookie season, he registered 11 points (3g-8a) in 62 games with the Wheeling Nailers while finishing fourth on the team with 65 penalty minutes.

Segalla, who was a fourth round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2013, also earned a one-game call-up to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins late last season, racking up four penalty minutes in a 4-0 win for the Penguins over Lehigh Valley on March 25, 2017.

Prior to turning pro, Segalla played three seasons at the University of Connecticut where he registered a total of 21 points (3g-18a) and 125 penalty minutes in 86 college games.
